Home Visits
Home visits by the GP or Nurse Practitioner may be appropriate for patients who are housebound, for patients with certain medical conditions and for patients who are terminally ill. Most medical problems are best managed at the surgery, where we have the correct facilities and equipment to allow a thorough assessment.
It is the patient’s or carer’s responsibility to arrange transport to the surgery.
If you feel that you need a home visit, please try to telephone the surgery before 10am. The receptionist will ask for a few details in order for the GP to prioritise urgent calls. It is likely that the Duty Doctor or Nurse Practitioner may telephone you to discuss how your problem can best be assessed and managed.
Your usual doctor may not be the clinician that does your home visit.
