Many people come to see the GP with a list of problems such as depression or ‘low mood’. We, the GP’s can treat the symptoms but often can’t sort out the cause. If you have money problems, housing issues or general life issues we will struggle to help you sort those out but other services are available who can help. If we manage to treat the ‘cause’ of the problem your symptoms will start to get better and you will be healthier. We understand that this sounds easy and know some issues can be very complex and it will take time to sort everything out. The GP’s will still be here to support you.
We have a member of the ‘ Social Prescribing’ team attending the practice on a Thursday morning. Elena is our ‘link worker’ or ‘navigator’ who will work with you to access local sources of support. She will listen to your problems and try to work out what services are out there to help you. This may be something as simple as a be-friending service for someone who is lonely or help to put you in contact with someone who will know what benefits you are entitled to.
One of the Social Prescribing team will be at the Surgery on a Thursday Morning.
If you would like an appointment with one of the Social Prescribing team please call Reception on 01205 820204 and ask for an appointment.
