Repeat Prescriptions

The quickest and easiest way to order your medication is through the NHS APP. You can also  access online medical services from our practice via SystmOnline which includes ordering repeat prescriptions.

Patients on regular medication do not usually need to see the doctor for repeat medication.

Alternative methods of ordering

  • Post your repeat slip to us.
  • Telephone your order on our 24 hour prescription line answerphone on 01205 822411.
  • Telephone the Surgery number, 01205 820204, and select option 2.
  • If you wish to speak to a member of staff about your repeat medication please phone 01205 820204 and select option 3.
  • Order online via the link at the top of this page. First time users are required to complete a simple registration.

Please allow three full working days (72 Hours) for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Electronic Prescribing Service

This practice is set up for the electronic prescription service.

This means that for most patients we can send your prescription to your chosen chemist directly saving you having to come down to the surgery.

To get your prescription sent to your chosen pharmacy you will have to ask reception to sign up.

Dispensary Opening Times

Monday to Friday 9.00am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 6.00pm

Closed between 1.00pm to 2.00pm every day and at weekends.

We dispense medication to patients who live more than a mile from a community pharmacy. Please allow 72 hours (3 working days) from ordering before coming to collect medication. If in doubt, please ring to check if your order is ready. Some items are not always kept in stock but we receive twice daily deliveries from our suppliers.

If you run out of medications when the surgery is closed you can obtain a 3-day 'emergency' supply from a community pharmacy on production of your repeat medication slip; there is a charge for this service or you can contact the '111' out of hours service.

Home Delivery Service

Please ask at the dispensary for information about our home delivery service. The delivery service is for those patients who are housebound and have genuine difficulty in travelling to the surgery to collect their medications.

If we try to deliver your medications and you are not at home on 3 successive occasions the practice reserves the right to withdraw the delivery service to that address.

Prescription Fees

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at NHS Choices

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.65
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
  • 3-month PPC: £31.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
